Summary
Based on an original new story by J。K。 Rowling， Jack Thorne and John Tiffany， a new play by Jack Thorne， Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage。 The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30， 2016。
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic， a husband and father of three school-age children。
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs， his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted。 As past and present fuse ominously， both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes， darkness comes from unexpected places。

The book is just regular， I guess。I loved some things， like Scorpius Malfoy's character and his whole relationship with his dad。 Maybe it's just because I have a soft spot for Draco， but I loved the concept of trying to avoid his own father's mistakes。 Also， Ginny。 I love her。I hated some other things， like Ron having even less of a personality than he had in the movies （and that's saying something）， the fact that apparently everyone is straight （it just doesn't make sense to me）， the trolley wi The book is just regular， I guess。I loved some things， like Scorpius Malfoy's character and his whole relationship with his dad。 Maybe it's just because I have a soft spot for Draco， but I loved the concept of trying to avoid his own father's mistakes。 Also， Ginny。 I love her。I hated some other things， like Ron having even less of a personality than he had in the movies （and that's saying something）， the fact that apparently everyone is straight （it just doesn't make sense to me）， the trolley witch thing （I don't even know what was the point of it aside from ruining one of the best things about the original story）， and how the conflict is described to be very complex and deep only to be solved quickly。Overall， the story is told in a very different way than the original books。 This feels more mature， possibly because the characters we knew and loved have already grown into adults， but it does seem to lose some of the magic that the first seven books had。 However， this is understandable （it is， after all， a different author， and a different literary genre） and easy to accept。One thing must be said about the book， though， and it's that in many ways it feels like very well-written fanfiction （view spoiler）[ （especially the "Voldemort's daughter" storyline that， like most fanfiction， made zero sense） （hide spoiler）] ， and I constantly found myself thinking of the A Very Potter Sequel musical （which was released before The Cursed Child） and the suspicious similarities between the plot of both plays。 I know it's not the same， but the coincidences were a bit sketchy。I may be biased but to be honest， I liked A Very Potter Sequel more （it has songs and jokes， which this book does not include）。Like I said， not great and not terrible。 Just regular。 。。。more

It starts off as what feels like fan fiction。 Then suddenly， it gets interesting。 Definitely no masterpiece or groundbreaking piece of work， but entertaining。 It’s written in scenes that would be better in film format。 I would like to see this on stage someday， but I know if I was analyzing this in my grad theatre classes， it wouldn’t fair well。
